Dr Ameer Ibrahim is able to diagnose and manage musculoskeletal problems, as well as medical problems associated with sport, however he specialises in non-surgical treatments for tendinopathies, osteoarthritis and sporting injuries. He has a special interest in regenerative medicine, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and ultrasound-guided injections. Unfortunately, however, he is not able to see patients with spinal-related injuries.

Dr Ibrahim takes a team approach by communicating directly with your GP, physiotherapist, or other treating practitioners, as well as coaches and sports trainers. He works independently to bring prompt and superior care for your injuries. If appropriate, he has swift access to some of Sydney’s finest medical specialists, physios and orthopaedic surgeons. Dr Ibrahim is highly motivated to get you back on track and performing at your peak.

Dr Ibrahim is able to assist in a range joint or tendon injuries through a selection of regenerative medicine options, including the use of orthobiological agents to replace or repair a patient’s cells or tissues that are damaged, compromised or expired. The orthobiological agents could be transferred into the damaged tissue directly. Orthobiological agents residing in one tissue can contribute to the repair of another due to their ability to modulate the immune response to injury and secrete growth factors.

Orthobiologics/Regenerative Medicine

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are a medical technology used in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, as well as in the aesthetic medicine field. Blood typically contains 6% platelets, whereas PRP has a significantly increased supra-physiological platelet concentration. Although this level can vary depending on the method of extraction and equipment, studies have shown that clinical benefit can be obtained if the PRP used has an increased platelet concentration of 4x greater than normal blood. PRP can stimulate the inflammatory cascade and healing process.
